OK I know it's fall/winter and I should be making holiday cards, but don't we all want something bright and cheery once in a while? I just have not been in the mood to break out all the Christmas stuff so I decided to play around with a couple of Lawn Fawn sets I hadn't gotten to use yet (Gasp!). If I haven't mentioned it yet I LOVE pineapples. The fact that I can find them everywhere on all types of things makes me super happy. Little back story, my grandmother was Hawaiian and Chinese. She was born on the island and moved to the mainland when she married my grandfather. My father is the baby of the family and got her olive complexion and a lot of her features so she always called him her "little pineapple."
For this card I used Distress Inks in Squeezed Lemonade, Mustard Seed, Mowed Lawn and Peeled Paint. I blended the colors on to a piece of Bristol Smooth cardstock that I cut with the Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Rectangles die. Once I was happy with my colors I sprayed it with water and blotted it with a paper towel. When you blot the water droplets it removes some of the color leaving lighter spots. I then lightly watered down some Peeled Paint ink and splattered it on to the cardstock. This time I did not blot it and it created the darker spots you see on the back ground.
I stamped my three pineapples on watercolor paper and heat embossed them with white embossing powder. i used my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers to color them in and fussy cut around them. I heat embossed my sentiment that I created from another Lawn Fawn set in black along the bottom. Then I cut a strip of Bo Bunny swiss dots vellum (love this stuff). Vellum is difficult to adhere without your glue showing so I placed dots of glue under where my pineapples would be and then also along the stitching on the edges. You can still see it along the edges, but it' not terrible. I adhered my pineapples with foam dots and glued the whole piece to the front of an A2 sized white card base.
For my next card I picked up another set I had purchased some time ago but hadn't used. This is the "Hang in There" set and the little sloth is just adorable. A lot of companies have come out with sloth sets, but I think I love this one the most. I stamped him and his branch and leaves on Bristol Smooth cardstock with black Memento ink. I used my copics to color them in and die cut them with the coordinating die set. I also used the Bannertastic set to create the little banner for my "hang in there" sentiment.
I inked another piece of the Bristol smooth cardstock with my Distress Inks (sorry I didn't write them down) and die cut it using the Avery Elle Diagonal Stripes die set. I glued my frame to an A2 sized white card base leaving the inner edge a little loose to be able to slip the branch underneath it. I laid out all of my pieces how I wanted and began gluing them down. I made a tiny pencil mark where the bottom of the banner would be so I knew where to stamp the second part of my sentiment. I removed the banner and stamped the "everything will be ok" line from the Simon Says Stamp You Got This set. I put foam dots on the banner and attached it to the card and that wrapped it up.
I hope you enjoyed these bright and cheerful cards featuring some of Lawn Fawn's adorable stamp sets. Thanks for stopping by and see again soon! XO ~ Amy
