Fall Watercolor Cards

October 14, 2017

Today I wanted to share some fun fall cards I made featuring Unity Stamps. Unity has an amazing selection of beautiful cling mount red rubber stamps. I can't say enough about the quality of their products and how awesome their designers are. They also have frequent sales where you can find really great deals on their stamps. If you have never checked them out they are definitely worth a look you can find them here  unitystampco.com. I also got to use my Daniel Smith 238 Color Sheets on these cards. His colors are so beautiful and this palette is a great way to try out the product and pick out just the colors you like before making an investment. Since I am primarily making cards these sheets last me quite a while and I will probably buy them again instead of the tubes due to the cost.

Fall is my favorite season. I love all  the rich warm colors mixed with beautiful gold and copper metallics. The Wish You Happy Bird stamp set is one of my favorites. I love the details and the hearts on the cheeks. To start I heat embossed the image with Wow! gold embossing powder on two pieces of watercolor paper. I find that the Misti (or other stamping tool) comes in handy when stamping on watercolor paper since it is so textured. I will usually re-ink and stamp the image 3 or 4 times to make sure I get a good impression of the image.

For the first card I wanted the bird on this card to be vibrant and detailed so I used less water to give the colors a more saturated look. For the background I used the same colors, but much more diluted. The sentiment is from the Unity Thanks & Giving set which is another great fall set

For the second bird card I wanted a messier watercolor look. I diluted several colors with water and worked them around the image until I was happy. The messy look is not easy for me because I will constantly play with it until I feel it's just right. Perks of having a bit of a perfection complex when it comes to my work. Then I heat embossed a simple "thanks" sentiment in gold from a Simon Says Stamp set and trimmed it down to fit my card.

The next set I worked with was Pumpkin Greetings. I love pumpkins and these ones are so cute. The detail of the hearts in the vines and the hand drawn look makes for a great image. I again heat embossed these on 2 pieces of watercolor paper with the gold embossing powder and colored them with watercolors. I layered lots of colors to get the right shades of orange. The first card also has a sentiment from the Simon Says Stamp kit.

For the last card I changed up the orientation and used the Harvest of a Heart stamp from Unity. I love the little heart at the bottom and decided to fill it in with a deep red. All of the dies used on these cards are from the Lawn fawn Large Cross Stitched rectangles set and the patterned papers are from the Carta Bella Hello Fall 6x6 paper pad (love this collection).

I hope you enjoyed these fun fall cards. Don't forget to Check Out Unity Stamps and all of the other products can be found on the Simon Says Stamp site. I'm always happy to answer questions in the comments or by email. Thanks for stopping by and have a great week!  XO ~ Amy
